Check it out...Here's a unique ORIGINAL set of 20 (TWENTY!) different multi-paged programs from the legendary "Avondale in the Meadows" theatre in the round in the old Meadows area near the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana issued for 11 different live stage show performances-Each 6" wide by 9" tall multi-paged program has a picture of the show stars (Most are famous TV & Movie stars) on front titled "Avondale Playhouse In The Meadows" with the date of the performance and is full of great photos, info and local ads inside including Burger Chef, Standard Oil, WIRE Radio, Pepsi, 7-Up, WRTV-Channel 6 TV and a State Fair appearance by Bonanza TV Show star Michael Landon (Little Joe) and much, much more-Back cover has an ad for the Hotels and Indy businesses where the stars of these show stayed while they were performing. Here's some info / history on Avondale in the Meadows:
The Avondale Meadows neighborhood was constructed in 1948 to accommodate America’s soldiers returning home from World War II. Located along the Fall Creek Greenway and less than four miles from downtown Indianapolis it quickly became the baby boomer epicenter of the Circle City. By the 1950s and 1960s, the Meadows area was "the" place to live, work and play in Indianapolis. The Avondale Playhouse (also known as "Avondale-in-the- Meadows") contracted nationally recognized stage and screen personalities to headline casts composed largely of local talent. The Avondale was housed inside a candy-striped tent at the Meadows shopping center on East 38th Street. The unique theater-in-the-round stage set the tone for the 1200-seat theater for most of its operating years, 1954 – 1966. Avondale regularly drew capacity audiences for productions ranging from popular light comedies to award-winning modern classics. As one of the nation's few theaters-in-the-round, the Avondale stage afforded the stars and audience alike an unusual live performance experience. Its multiple viewing perspectives proved a challenge to directors, choreographers and set designers. Allen Whitehall Clowes and W. Taylor Wilson together founded Avondale and its better known friendly rival, Starlight Musicals, as the city's two best alternatives to the summertime blues.

Postage rates are non-negotiable and non-refundable. We pack every item professionally using new packing materials and appropriate mailing supplies. We send all items via US Postal Service.The U.S.Postal service rates change fairly regularly every year and we don't make money on postage like some other ebay sellers. I try and place a penny in every photo to help judge the size of the item, obviously it is there for size comparison and is not included with the item. Many of the items are VINTAGE and although they are in very fine condition, they may not function as well as when they were made decades ago. So if you intend on using the old item, please be aware that we are selling it for collector value only. In other words, if you intend on using a 50+ year old letter opener and it breaks, don't get mad at us. It may be hard to believe, but we have received a couple negatives because people broke vintage items while trying to use them.
