Lot of WWII Documents Regarding Pilot Grounded for Combat Fatigue, 1945B-24 co-pilot Robert Morgan was wounded May 31, 1945 by shrapnel in his left leg from anti-aircraft fire at Taihoku, Formosa (Taiwan)
He was co-pilot flying alongside of pilot Lt. Critchfield who was severely injured. Morgan had to land the plane amidst mechanical failure on land as opposed to sea (due to Critchfield's condition). It is for this heroic act he receives the Distinguished Flying Cross.
These documents relate to the awards received and the narrative of the day of combat.
Includes 8 pieces total.
Pilots were members of the 19th bomb squadron- 22nd bomb group.
