Country singer hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself: Buzz

A country singer has been hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself, according to multiple reports.
Billboard reports Sundance Head, who won “The Voice” in 2016, is in stable condition after a hunting accident near his Texas ranch. According to TMZ, he was injured Friday when his gun slipped out of the holster, hit the side of his Jeep, discharged and struck him in the stomach area.
“It was not his hunting rifle and no nobody shot him,” his wife Misty Head wrote on Facebook. “He was out of the vehicle reaching in to grab his .22 when he grabbed it the .22 came out of its holster and hit the exterior of the Jeep just right and went off. Sundance said it happened so fast and he could see the bullet dislodging.”
The 46-year-old singer, who was born Jason Head, is not expected to require surgery as the bullet is in his “fatty tissue,” Misty said. “Being on the bigger side was a good thing,” she added.
Sundance Head, the son of country singer Roy Head, first rose to fame on season 11 of NBC’s “The Voice” as the winning member of Blake Shelton’s team. He’s since released two albums, including “Starting Again” in 2022.
